The Service Experts Heating and Air Conditioning Field Support Office in Plano, TX was excited to contribute more than 320 pounds of food to Minnie’s Food Pantry, also located in Plano.
“Last year, I had the opportunity to get a group of colleagues to volunteer at Minnie’s and it was an unbelievable experience,” said Amanda Wilson, Operations Specialist for Service Experts. “They go above and beyond providing food – they are a vital part of this community.”
Minnie’s Food Pantry was started by Cheryl Jackson as a way to honor her mother, Minnie Hawthorne-Ewing D.D., who spent many of her childhood years wondering if and where she would get her next meal. In addition to providing meals to families in need, Minnie’s also holds classes to teach families how to utilize the food they get to create healthy, long-lasting meals. They also provide resume aid along with budgeting and job classes to help people get back on their feet.
Since the families receive approximately 50 pounds of food to get them through the month, Service Experts was able to supply meals for six families for the month.
“Each member of the team was so ecstatic that we had this food drive for the organization, and they even took time to show us their amazing facility,” Wilson said.
