Here’s What to Do When Your Furnace Won’t Ignite
We are getting through the last few weeks of winter but we still need our furnaces, especially during cold nights. Not much is worse than going to bed at night and realizing your furnace won’t turn on. If your furnace won’t turn on, here are a few things you can check yourself prior to calling Stevenson Service Experts.
Check Air Filters
You should change standard air filters monthly. If you fail to do so, they can become clogged, obstructing air flow and causing your furnace to malfunction.
Check Your Thermostat
Start by turning the thermostat up a few degrees to get the furnace to turn on. If the current room temperature is higher than the thermostat, the furnace won’t run. Also, make sure the system switch is on “heat” or “auto.”
Check the Power
It may seem obvious, but confirm the power switch next to the heating equipment is “On.” Even gas heating equipment uses electricity so verify the breaker has not tripped and that the power switch was not accidently flipped to the “Off” position.
If you review all these things and your furnace will still not turn on, give Stevenson Service Experts a call at 614-334-3192 and we’ll come out and get you taken care of as soon as possible.
